Life Empowerment Program (LEP)

D.C. youth are more at risk for teen pregnancy, STDs, and STIs when compared to other teenagers across the country.

But that needn’t remain the case. When youth enroll in HBP’s Life Empowerment Program (LEP), they become part of a group that learns about personal safety, family planning, and communication skills.

LEP is conducted in small groups across the District of Columbia. The program follows evidence-based models and is designed to empower youth to change their behaviors using:

  • Interactive activities so teenagers can retain information
  • Gender-appropriate and age-appropriate classes
  • Community locations across the District to make LEP accessible
  • 4- and 8-week programs
  • Financial incentives when youth satisfactorily complete LEP requirements

HBP also offers Booster Sessions for LEP graduates each month so participants can reinforce what they’ve learned and continue to gain healthy life skills.

LEP recruitment and enrollment are ongoing. If you or a teenager you know would like information, please contact Jazmine Brazier at (202) 396. 2809 or by email.
