| With each
passing year, Healthy Babies Project continues to
work to expand the availability and accessibility
of prenatal and basic health care services to high-risk,
low-income pregnant women and their families during
the important childbearing and early child raising
years.
Since our inception in 1990, we have designed
and administered life-enriching programs to include
outreach, case management, health education and
community consortia. It is our belief that in
order to make a difference in the lives of our
neediest community residents, we need to ensure
that the services we provide are, in fact, the
services that are needed.
Our goal is to aid in the reduction of the dangerously
high rates of infant deaths, illnesses, and low
birth weight, as well as improve the health outcomes
for at-risk mothers and infants. Through our aggressive
outreach programs, we aim to not only prevent
unintended repeat pregnancies, but to improve
the overall health, education and parenting outcomes
of our community.
The Healthy Babies Project works in collaboration
with the Nations Capitol Child & Family
Development and the District of Columbia Birth
Center, to provide critical, comprehensive health
care and social services. Additionally, we work
with National Homes Trust to provide job placement,
computer training and educational support.
Health Babies Project, Inc. is a private not-for-profit
community-based organization located in Washington,
DC.
